General Guidelines for DSS Operations

- Students who wish to become members need to submit an application to the director of DSS or the chair of one of its committees.
- Members serve 3 office hours per week which are posted, along with a phone number, in the DSS office.
- Members must attend weekly meetings of the Executive Board of DSS.
- Each committee is given a designated budget and should a member wish to spend more than $100 out of said budget, the purchase needs to be coordinated through the director.
- All correspondence, publicity, etc. must have the DSS and MSA/GPC logos on it. Before anything is printed with the DSS logo on it, it must have the approval of the director.
- Each Executive Board member must complete a Mid-Semester Evaluation/Report form each month. Keep personal copies.
- Each member must then fill out an End-of-the-Semester report which has been prepared by the Director or Graduate Advisor. This must be turned in by the end of finals week.
- The DSS Graduate Assistant is a paid employee of DSS. This person is here to advise and assist. The GA schedules about 20 office hours per week. Keep the GA informed of what you are doing!
- For additional questions, see the Director or the GA.
