KCOU:
KCOU was established to serve the students of the residence halls as well as the Columbia community at-large. The station was founded in Cramer Hall in 1965 as an amalgamation of several dorm radio stations with the intention to unify several houses’ efforts at radio. It was created under IRHA, now known as RHA, the Residence Halls Association. Today, MSA provides KCOU with a large portion of its funding as a result of its purchase of KCOU. MSA owns the station license, but does not control KCOU’s programming. KCOU has its own executive staff, including a general manager and program director. MSA provides the station with the funding and support it needs to stay afloat and in turn, KCOU promotes any and all events MSA wishes to be promoted.

MUTV:
MUTV is the only student run television station at the University of Missouri – Columbia’s campus. The greatest contribution that MUTV makes to the MU campus is that it provides programming that entertains and informs the students who reside in the residence halls on campus. There are a total of 6 different original programs that are produced, and when those programs are not being aired, MUTV airs movies that are distributed from Swank Motion Pictures. The other main contribution of this student run TV station is that it provides the opportunity to students who have any interest in media an outlet to explore and gain experience in that area. MUTV’s staff size can range from 30 to 100 students depending on retention and number of programs that are in production. It fluctuates so much due to students graduating and students moving to other media outlets beyond MUTV, such as KOMU. 882-3629
