Every Senator must serve on one committee, which meets Tuesday nights at 7:00pm. - Academic Affairs (AA): Academic Affairs discusses academic issues directly affecting students. This committee makes contact with professors and other faculty members while representing the student voice on important issues. - Budget Committee (BC): The MSA Budget Committee reviews the MSA Budget in preparation for its consideration by the full MSA Senate. Members of the committee also serve on the Student Fee Review Committee. Legislative duties of the committees are limited to items relating to the MSA Budget, student fees, and to the committee itself. - Campus and Community Relations (CCRC): CCRC serves as the primary liaison between the MSA Senate and the Columbia community. Working with city leaders, CCRC establishes relationships with private and non-profit organizations to involve students in parts of off-campus life. - Multicultural Issues (MCI): MCI guides policies involving issues of particular interest to or affecting minority students. The committee monitors the universality and egalitarianism of Senate’s legislation, and attempts to act as the catalyst for change regarding student relations both in Senate itself and on campus. - Operations (OPS): The Operations Committee oversees the internal workings of all three branches of MSA. Ops interacts with the Student Court, Department of Student Services, the Department of Student Activities, and the MSA executives on a regular basis. - Student Affairs (SA): Student Affairs works to increase communication between administrators and students. Student Affairs listens to students and their concerns, researches available solutions to improve the situation, and then takes any action necessary to achieve resolution. The committee’s main task is to search for ways to make life better at MU.
